March 20th Observations

Today's video will say it's the first day of spring. However, this year, 2020, the first day of spring was...yesterday. March 19th. However, in 2017, when the video was recorded, spring fell on March 20th.

National Observations and Curriculum

International Day of Happiness: Make a list of things that make you happy! Read them to someone. If you're younger, tell your mom or dad three things that make you happy.

World Storytelling Day: Make this day about telling YOUR story. What fun things do you remember that would make a great story to someone else? Ask your mom or dad about how they met, or about the day you were born. Ask them to tell you about any weird things you did growing up, because I'm sure they have tons of those stories! Otherwise, sit down and read a story to your younger siblings. If you don't have siblings, have your mom or dad read you a story.

Ravioli Day: Need I say more. Enjoy.

HIV/AIDS Awareness Day: Today you might be home because your local government forced all schools to close to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Back in the 1980s, there was a much scarier disease being spread call HIV AIDS. Those are acronyms, which consists of the first letters of each word: Human immunodeficiency virus infection and acquired immune deficiency syndrome. This disease attacks your immune system, making it extremely difficult to be out in public by the off chance someone, or anyone, could be sick. The person with HIV/AIDS could not only catch the cold, flu, or any other contagious virus, but it could literally kill them because their immune system can't fight it. Back in the first decade of its existence, people didn't understand the disease and how it spread. So that created a worldwide panic, much like we're seeing today. However, it wasn't a friendly disease. If someone had the disease, they were mistreated by others, or medical facilities would refuse to treat them. All in fear that they would catch the deadly disease. If someone had found out they had the disease, some people would bully them and force them out of their neighborhoods, their jobs, their homes. The scare tactics were similar to what we are facing today in 2020 with the coronavirus. Everyone was afraid, and in fear people do bad things. Today we are so much more informed about the disease and how its transmitted. It almost seems non-existent today, but that's thanks to a lot of people who came together for the good of the globe, and helped provide affordable measures to help those suffering from the disease.

Below I am sharing some videos on how the immune system works.
